Censorship:the institution, system, or practice.
When I think of censor, I think hiding,concealing or just taking away. We are surrounded by may censored products such as T.V.’s and Cd’s. Know if the censorship of it all is worth it I don’t know I just have my opinion’s. In our English 111 class we were asked to think of three different questions to ask our fellow students, faculty, and other generations about censorship. My group decided to ask these questions.
1.) How do you feel about censorship on T.V. ? Does it help socity or not?
Answer: From a older woman on our campus
she said that it doesn’t really help because people will watch what the want to and what you watch is your choice. If you don’t want to watch nudity or violence then that is your choice. But life is made of choices and what you doing you have to suffer the consequences
2.) Do you believe it’s the parents or the censorship responsibly to control what children do?
Answer: From a faculty member in the LRC building
She believed it is both. If parents don’t want there children exposed to nudity or violence then don’t let them watch it. But like she said you can’t be with you children every step they take. the the world needs to watch what they do if they want to cut down on all the mastiff.
3.) Do you think it benefits an artist that sells censored Music or Hurts them?
Answer: From a student
He said that it hurts them. By taking away the lyrics of music it’s taking away the creative of the artist. And that’s why they are a artist. artist write music with lyrics like that for one reason to express there feelings. when you take that away you are taking the mood or feeling out the song.
As my group conducted the questionnaire it made me think of how censorship has several affects on society today not only on yourself but others. We all have our beliefs but are they the right ones or not. Censorship is a very argumentative subject that can not be taken lightly but when we break it down it’s nice to know what people from different background and ethnic groups believe.
